At present, in the study of acient Chinese characters, the study of development principle of characters is more weak than that of the noumenon of the characters . A detailed phenomenon is that the study of character's evolvement law is not enough. Such as the erroneous evolvement, which lie in the inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells in Shang dynasty, is great in number and change severely in Zhanguo dynasty. The phenomenon is significant, because we can find some laws. And it is an important problem through the development of the characters. This thesis define " erroneous evolvement ", and probe into the cause and the law through some examples. At last, the writer get an impersonal attitude to erroneous evolvement. Through discussion, we can come to the following conclusion: the similitude of font style, the user's reorganization, and the change of components of character in place, all these are major reasons. The font style is the base of acient characters. Through the discussion of the evolvement of font style, we can conclude theory from large materials. Contrarily, the theory direct the study in order to avoid guesswork subjectively and strenthen the objectivity. This research offers vast and credible data for further study on Chinese characters .
