Today in the 21st century, though the development of science and technology advances by leaps and bounds and the social life become common customs day by day, but the religion has not only disappeared, but also continued permeating to literature, art, philosophy and social different fields in various kinds of new forms instead, and keep its peculiar appeal and influence power, even the phenomenon that " the religion hot " has appeared in some areas and some colonies.Our country is in the period that makes transition from traditional society to modern society, the change of the social structure is striking each key element of the Chinese society, has offered the opportunity for development of the religion too. The society makes the transition in my state system is now: Make the transition from self-sufficiency and half self-sufficiency natural economy society to the socialist market economy society; make the transition from rigid structure society to the elastic social structure, make the transition from the cultural society of homogeneity to the heterogeneous cultural society, make the transition from close and semi-closed society to the open society. The society transition offered the opportunity to the development of religion: Relatively loose politics and social environment have offered the advantage for development of the religion; The enlargement of the scale of temple church brought in economic development, has left the space for the development of the religion; People become terms of religious development to the diversified demands of cultural life, the aggravation of and social competition, the social contradiction is complicated, cause some people's psychological unbalance, need to seek the sustenance of spirit. So, in the society transformation period, the phenomenon that "the religion hot" has appeared in China, and demonstrates new characteristic and trend. Believer and the motive of belief purify; the religious growth rate differs, religions develop unevenly in different area; Religious life becomes common customs, religious belief and religious values become moralization.This thesis surveys people's religious belief through method of questionnaire investigation and interview of the case in Taigu county of Shanxi. The investigation result shows: The in the period of society transition, the need that the meaning system changes is a social reason why an individual is converted to the religion; person is exposed to the religion under the circumstances that the external utility motive is driven at first, but as time goes on, the composition of the spiritual aspect increases gradually in its faith; The religious belief reinvents the individual's ethics moral concept and social behavior, have produced certain positive effect objectively. This text thinks, we should appraise people's religious belief and social value of the religion objectively, strengthen guide and promote the religion to be suitable for the socialism.
