On Religious Belief Of Chinese In Transformational Society

Being a kind of special ideology and a kind of important social culture phenomenon, religious affect the history of humanity, social civilization and the life of people deeply. Today in the 21st century, though the development of science and technology and the social life become common customs day by day, religion has not only declined in modernization life but also affected the life of humanity with more and more believers and all kinds of new forms. In our country, especially after 1980s, the development of religion also becomes an important social phenomenon. Behind that, there exist people's spiritual pursue. Therefore, it's necessary to research people's religious belief in transformational society. And it will not only relate to understand social reality, hold the pulse of social development, but also to construct the frame of personality and spirit of people in Socialism Harmonious Society.Our country is in the period that makes transformation from traditional society to modern society quickly with four characteristics including integration, pluralism and unbalance. The transformation also gives rise to many social problems, such as greater gap between the rich and the poor, social anxiety, rampant corruption, indifference between people, value confusion and the lack of unified criterion etc. And these problems also provided the opportunity for the development of religion. People believe religion mostly because of actual needs, such as illness, lack of meaning and progress etc. The deep social reason after that is more important. Religion demonstrates new characteristics and trend. The number of believers increases and the structure changes, religious develop unevenly in different area;religious organization transfers from diffused religion to institutional religion.This thesis takes Shagou Church and Taigu county in Shanxi Province as sample and surveys people's religious belief, such as turning points, supporting factors and belief participation. The investigation resultshows: during the transforming society, the conversion of people is a kind of variation with initiative and passive, rational and non-rational, willing and surpass. Therefore, I conclude that people's religion and social transformation have a logical and illogical relationship. It's actually misunderstanding to the people's spiritual word if we regard simply religious belief as trial and superstition. And we should evaluate it impersonal and promote the religion to be suitable for the socialism.
