Since the rapid change of social structure and historical development, traditional Chinese society as a whole met great crisis both socially and ideologically in the later Ming dynasty. Orthodox Neo-Confucianism, either Cheng-Zhu school, or Lu-Wang school, couldn't work out a solution to these problems. Thinkers like Yan-Jun, He Xing-ying, Li Zhi strictly criticized orthodox Neo-Confucianism, and creatively transformed traditional Confucianism in terms of theoretical form, intellectual mind, and value orientation. Orthodox Neo-Confucianism scholars viewed these thinkers as heterodox.. Actually this trend of thought represented a novel orientation of the Confucianism development, which was entirely different from the Orthodox Confucianism belief. These thinkers made great effort to calm down the social crisis by taking different thinking way which concerned spiritual value to the utmost. In the later Ming dynasty, western culture deeply influenced upon the development of Chinese culture, in this sense, secularization of Confucianism, which represented by He xing-ying, Li Zi, was an initiative culture transformation of Chinese traditional culture for the sake of its deep crisis.
