The problem of culture relation between China and the West has become deeply concerned under the multicultural atmosphere. Elder generation had their views on this problem, especially for the scholars who experienced the May 4~th Movement, they were much sensitive to this problem because of special life background, the theory of Lin Yutang' s culture mixture between China and the West is always considered as creative idea among different cultures. He takes this as the tenet for his novels, and created much beautiful scenery of culture mixture between China and the West for people. The thesis consists of three parts, they are background analysis, text deciphering and the comparison of culture and personality between Sam Pearl and Gu Hongming, which are used to study the ideal of Lin Yutang' s culture mixture between China and the West, Chinese and Western mix together ". Through the study of his special experience for his life and his embarrassed cultural identity, we will query the essence of, then we will know that culture mixture between China and the West can not break away from the shadow of western hegemony culture ,it is not the result of equal dialogue.
