The paper will try to make a preliminary research about the indifferent attitude of the British Labor Party to the European Integration. It is divided into three chapters except the introduction and the conclusion.The introduction makes a brief elaboration about the background research of the domestic and foreign to the policy of the Labor Party of Britain to Europe.The first chapter mainly discusses the background why the Labor Party is against the European Integration. It can be explained through the native culture and historical tradition and psychology etc. The long historical tradition, peculiar isolationism culture, the once proud as the great nation and the unwillingness tradition of involving in the affairs of the Europe Continent, all these can prove that Britain always hold the balance policy to the Europe land and is unwilling to involve in the dispute of the continent. This very tradition must have great effect to the Labor Party and make it unwilling to join the movement of the Integration of Europe.Chapter two analyses the background of the attitude of the Labor Party to the Integration of Europe. The background including the domestic policy, the view of the Labor Party and the benefit disputing between Labor Party and Conservative Party and so on. The Labor Party announced that it is the socialism party since it was founded. Its policies mainly conclude reacting nationalization, maintaining full employment, carrying out social welfare etc. The practices of all these policies need the central authorities controlling the complete national sovereignty. However, the Integration of Europe requires its members remising part of their sovereignty to a certain Super national Authority Mechanism. This is what the Labor Party cannot accept. At the same time, in order to strengthening its own unity and the contention with the Conservative Party, the Labor Party thinks that they should be indifferent to the European Integration.Chapter three analyses the question through the international environment ofBritain facing and the diplomatic policy of the Labor Party and so on. It is researched in the international pattern of Soviet-American hegemony. At that time the Labor Party carried out the Three Circle Diplomacy and paid great attention to the relation with Britain Commonwealth and America, so it was indifferent to the European Integration.
