The Feasibility Analysis Of Bamboo-culm Furniture Design On The Basis Of Scale Production

Bamboo-culm furniture has a long history in China and is peculiar to the world. Bamboo is an important component of forest resources on the earth, which is famous for its material quality, reproductive capacity, vitality, fast growth, high output, early-maturing and short rotation. With the spread of the concept of sustainable development and individuals' particular arts preferences, more and more consumers prefer the bamboo-culm furniture.However, for now, the bamboo-culm furniture is still manufactured in an out-dated production method. How to fully use the bamboo material and make the bamboo-culm furniture more fashionable is an important issue to the Chinese furniture industry. Therefore, this paper especially focused on the research of bamboo-culm furniture's reproduction and furniture design on the basis of the scale production. The main research is divided into several parts as following:a) Based on the comprehensive research, this paper analyzed bamboo-culm furniture's value, prospects and current situation and found out the bamboo-culm furniture problems;b) For the problems found out in part (a), the paper did some research on bamboo-culm furniture's advantage and designed a new system on the basis of scale production;c) For the requirement of the new concept, research was done on new types of structures. This also devised various new types of removable structures,using bamboo-culm seat as an example.The unique point of this paper is that this paper did the research work of traditional bamboo-culm furniture from a totally new aspect. It explored the possibility of bamboo-culm furniture design on the basis of scale production. The purpose is to drive the innovation of technology design and fully combine traditional bamboo-culm furniture with modern life.
