The Life Consciousness And Poetry Creation Of The Poets Of The Early Tang Dynasty

This paper mainly analyses the typological features and the specific connotationsof life consciousness of the poets in the early Tang Dynasty, on the basis of which astudy is made of the life-consciousness of the poems in the early Tang Dynasty.The Early Tang Dynasty, preceded by the 6 dynasties and followed by theon-coming prosperous Tang Dynasty, saw the emergence and strengthening ofpeople's awakened self-consciousness. In the competitive and complex hundred yearsof the early Tang Dynasty, the poets were psychologically characterized by sharpindividuality and the assertion of their self-value. In their sinuous psychologicaldevelopment, life consciousness mainly manifests itself as the poets' sense of familyand country peculiar to a great unified country and the rational spirit ofaggressiveness in misery, the banished poets' homesickness and patriotism and theiremptiness and vagrancy, their sense of tragedy in a time permeated withsentimentality and sense of solitude arising from their pursuit of individuality andideals,;their sense of the universe resulting from their discussion of the meaning oflife and ambivalence about resignation, etc.Literature and life are inseparable and poems are a concentrate of the poets' lifeconsciousness. The life-relatedness of poems of the early Tang Dynasty is seen in theexpression of the rise-and-fall theme of Urban Poems, the pursuit of individual valueof one's life of the Frontier Poets and Chivalry Poets, and the hope placed on lifeconsciousness in the intoning poems and peacefulness of life of the landscape poems,etc. In addition, it can also be seen in the expression of emotions and ambitions in aparticular image, the pursuit of and the persistence in integrity on the part of the poets,and in the choice and application of the different poetic forms like the Hepta-cantusand the sao style, etc.This paper makes a further study of the life consciousness and poem creation ofLi Shimin, the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty, and Lu Zhaolin, who were twokey poets in the early Tang Dynasty.Research shows that the slow and bitter accumulation of psychological energy inthe Early Tang poets is closely related to the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty. The lifeconsciousness of the poets' in the Early Tang Dynasty plays an important, role in thedevelopment of poetry of the time and even a decisive one in the prosperity ofpoetry in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
