Research On The Relation Between The Cultural Figures' Groups And The Forming Of Guilin Cultural City

During the Anti-Japanese war, Guilin was entitled as "famous historical and cultural city ". From this point, we can see its cultural prosperity, and its influence is not only internal but also international. The research of Guilin's anti-Japanese culture began in the early 1960s. In the Memory of Guilin Cultural City which is the supplements of Guangxi Daily, there was a special column. Some famous figure such as: Xia Yan, Si Mawenshen who were carrying out the cultural activities in Guilin during the Anti-Japanese have published memories articles in this column. But most of the articles focused on recalling the history and there were little analyses, so its not a real research.. Moreover, the "cultural revolution" suspended the research of Guilin's anti-Japanese culture. The situation was not improved until the Third Session of the 11th CPC Central conference, which carried out the restoration of order. In the past three decades, Guilin's anti-Japanese culture has gradually become a hot topic in academic research field, and there come plenty of the relevant historical materials research works and thesis.This paper consists of five parts.The part of introduction gives a general description of the research achievements and the existing shortages of this issue in the current academic circles as well as the purpose of the paper.Part one focuses on Guilin's situation before the Anti-Japanese War. It involves two aspects. First it describes Guilin's situation under the control of New Gui Military Group in 1930s, including the political construction, the economic construction, communication construction,business and trade, finance and cultural construction. And then it carries out a brief statement and analysis for the abstract condition which contributes to the forming of Guilin cultural city.Part two describes some anti-Japanese activities launched by the cultural figures in Guilin during the period of Anti-Japanese War. It is made up of four parts—the cultural figures' assembling in Guilin, their establishing many anti-Japanese social groups, the first appearance of cultural figures' groups;the cultural anti-Japanese invasion activities of the Cultural celebrity group, and the forming of Guilin cultural city.Part three talks about the positive influences of the cultural figures' groups on the forming of Guilin cultural city, comprising of five aspects. Firstly, the cultural figures' groups helped to improve Guilin's grief prosperity in the war period. Secondly, they helped to improve the development of culture and education in Guilin and its neighbors. Thirdly, they helped to improve the changes of some folk customs. Fourthly, they helped to speed up the process of victory for the Anti-Japanese War. And fifthly, they helped to improve the communication development in Guilin and its neighbors.The conclusion part.
