The English female writer George Eliot of the 19th century advanced into the row of "the great tradition" of this country , especially by her novels' serious moral subjects and the philosophy languages .She kept pace with the female writers such as Henry James and Joseph Conrad, simultaneously, she tried hard to write the feminine destiny and engraved the feminine psychology exquisitely, so she also was the feminine writers' model like Austin for the Victoria time .But, as the feminine writer which belonged to the sub-culture group of that time ,she always was having the contradiction which she couldn't be dispelled: she sympathized with the female, but also displayed the approval to the male power, and she followed the feminine writers' word rules actually at times fell the masculine words' snare. This contradiction displayed in her feminine narration which existed the contradictions of constructing and dispelling the feminine authority. This thesis uses Feminist Narratology and classical narrative theories combining with feminist criticism to probe into the narrative characteristic of Eliot's works from three aspects, and attempts to clarify the two kinds of mistakes regarding her novels, and points out that Eliot was by no means the absolute feminism or the non-counter-feminism. Her novels all unfolded her contradictory standpoints and manners. I will generalize the Feminist Narratology which began to be prosperous gradually in the middle period of the eighties. The first chapter analyzes "the plot mode and personage's mode" which belongs to the story aspect ,her stories usually embodied the course of the male from crime to extrication but the female from pursue to deconstruction, which demonstrated her contradictory standpoint, she sympathized with the female but also maintained the male. She chosen "the weak female" and the men which hided in the "the gloomy quoin" to deviously express the constructed and dispelled feminine authorityThe second chapter elaborates from the narrative voice, the confliction of the male's voice and the feminine voice as well as the confliction of narrator's voice and the character's voice all embodied her contradictory female consciousness. The third chapter elaborates from the narrative angle of view, Eliot's novels passed through the route from by "focusing" the male to "focusing" the female, which partiallydemonstrated the feminine authority, however the novel presented the tendency of desalinating the feminine perspective unceasingly, which partially dispersed the feminine authority. Finally seeks the origin of her contradictions, and points out the reason is that Eliot adopted the standpoint of the non- dual opposition regarding male and female. She just wanted to pursue the harmony, but contradictions also brought about "the Archimedes type" tension and the unique esthetic effects.
