The subjects of experiment are Chinese speakers of Korean and native speakers of Chinese. This research is a comparative investigation of the pause of sentences with verbal predicate. The purpose of experiment is to find differences between Chinese speakers of Korean and native speakers of Chinese in pause and establish corresponding teaching strategies. Factorial experimental design applied in this research which analyses pauses of Korean male and Chinese male, Korean female and Chinese female, elementary Korean and intermediate Korean. Perceptual evaluation and experimental phonetics methods used in this research which find differences consist of times of pause, the reduction and lengthening of the syllable before pause, the amount of reduction and lengthening of the syllable before pause based on the tones of the syllable before pause, times of pause based on the tones of the syllable before pause, and frequency differences between the syllable before pause and the syllable after pause. But no difference in silence segment. The conclusion of this research are times of pause of Korean more than Chinese; the amount of reduction of syllable before pause of Korean more than Chinese, especially exist in Korean female; The amount of the lengthening of the syllable before pause which based on the tones of the syllable before pause have differences in yinping and shangsheng(female) and qingsheng(male); The margin order between Korean female and Chinese female is shangsheng > qusheng > yangping > yinping > qingsheng, this order is correspond to the learning difficulty of the tones; The margin order between Korean male and Chinese male is qingsheng > yinping > shangsheng > yangping > qusheng, this order is not correspond to the learning difficulty of the tones; The slope change of frequency differences of native speakers of Chinese which in evident subsection state and is much quicker than Chinese speakers of Korean and correlate to times of pause. The slope change of low frequency differences of Korean female is much more smaller than Chinese female, frequency differences of Korean male is focus in high part and the slope change of low frequency differences is smaller than Chinese male. The transition of high frequency of the syllable before pause to low frequency of the syllable after pause is easy for Chinese speakers of Korean to control, whereas is difficult for Chinese speakers of Korean to control, especially exist in Korean male. The pause acquisition of Korean female is better than Korean male; there is no notable difference between elementary Korean and intermediate Korean. This research also present the intension and content and methods and process of rhythm drill which is a teaching strategy should be applied in small class.
