| As a renowned contemporary writer, Yu Hua is one of the writers who have been studied completely. And the change of the style of his several writing stages has been the focus in many literary comment recently. The thesis tries to discuss the consistency of the writing style in Yu Hua's novels through the common points of his three stages. Also, the thesis expounds the factors of expressionism which have been overlooked by critics. The whole thesis falls into three parts. Part One inspects the shift of Yu Hua's writing value and the form of his subjective expression style through the different influences on Yu Hua from Kawabata Yasunari and Kfka Franz. Under the influence of Kawabata Yasunari, Yu Hua gets acknowledged to the fundamental writing methods and masters the technique of depicting details by Subjective Expression, which lays a solid foundation for his writing career. Kfka Franz not only teaches Yu Hua how to write in detail, but also teaches him how to build a building of subjective novel. We can say, the tendency to subjective expression in Yu Hua's novels is the result of the writer's continual imitating and learning from the literary masters. Part Two probes into Yu Hua's outlook on reality, analyzes the subjective reality and significance showed in Yu Hua's novels. We can find that Yu Hua begins to introspect the real world which we live in when he has trouble in writing on. He thinks that the real world is unreal, but the spirit of the individual is real. Only by piercing through the reality with our subjective spirits, we can recognize the nature covered by the reality. Yu Hua tries his best to show the subjective reality instead of just copy or image the real life in his novels, which well reflected his outlook on reality. This kind of efforts lifted Yu Hua's novels to unprecedented height. Part Three reveals the writing style of expressionism of Yu Hua's novel through the expounding of specific writing techniques.
