Research On Female Images Of TV Plays In China

With the continuous development of TV industry, the Chinese TV plays began to shift from paying attention to the life of the grass roots to that of the elites and the constant improvement of popular appreciation level promoted the development process of TV plays. Meanwhile, the social sex problem reflected in the TV plays and the women bear the discrimination from the whole society. As the tool of guiding the public opinion, popular media presented the same neglect for the women during the communication process. The relation between men and women as a social phenomenon shall draw attention and concern from the people.The feminism in China influenced by the three tides of western feminism and began its localization based on the western feminism. The period from"May 4th, Movement", the establishment of New China to the period of reform and opening-up in China which is a huge change, the feminism in China developed by leaps and bounds by using the western ideology and psychoanalysis. However, we shall find the problems when we saw the progress. From the perspective of mainstream ideology, we can find the disadvantaged position of women and the reality of their dependence. Women were still surrounded by the object fate, which women are watched. We can conclude that the liberation of Chinese women is not essential and they are struggling at the shadow of the male supremacy.This article talked about the representative TV plays of 1980s and 1990s and then analyzed the different but representative female images formed at the specific historic conditions and the influence on the characters caused by the deepening of feminism. After entering the 21st century, the intellectual female images appeared in numbers. The independent and new female images possessed the independence and pursued the economic independence and social status. However, we still found that the women are obsessed with shadow of male supremacy. Both in the former 1980s and 1990s and the new century, guided by the main ideology, the male supremacy problems in the TV plays did not eliminate and on the contrary, it hided much deeper, which are not easily found by the people. Chinese women are wandering in the peculiar circle with historic features and tend to the male supremacy. The popular media shall bear the responsibility to establish the correct relation pattern between men and women and guide the public opinion to face the reality of women being oppressed and losing their rights. In the end, the article pointed out that the men and women shall eliminate the sexual discrimination while attach importance on the sexual difference. Meanwhile, men shall assist the women to eliminate the inequality between men and women and therefore to establish a society of equality and harmony on their own.
