The proverb contains the most abundant language unit in the cultural value. It is theoutcome that the race language develops over a long period of time, the crystallization of therace mental consciousness. Through the proverb, we can understand the mode of thinking, theconcept of value, the mental characteristic of a race to some extent. The proverb of Japaneseis the important part of the Japanese language culture. It is a key to understand andcomprehend the Japanese and their culture. The parentage is the basic and also the mostimportant relation in all kinds of social interactions. Standing on the theory of the culturallinguistics, I collect proverbs about parent and child in the text and want to analyze theJapanese traditional parentage through proverbs. The paragraph chapter arrangement of thearticle is as follows:In chapter 1, I introduce the related knowledge of the Japanese proverb and explicit thedefinition of the proverb.Chapter 2 is the most important part of the text. I classify the proverb concerning parentsand children which have been collected in hand already. And then, I analyze the parentagefrom seven aspects, such as "the father's guidance, the love of the mother"," like father likeson"," the parents' boon, such as world" and so on.Chapter 3 is the conclusive part of the article, which point out the relation between theproverb and culture. If the language is a mirror of culture, so, the proverb is more concentrated of culturalinformation of the race. Maybe we can say that proverbs in the text mainly reflect theJapanese traditional parentage, but among them, some contents have been not in line with themodern Japanese society obviously. Anyway, we can't deny that as a kind of appearance ofculture in the proverb, some ideas are still living in the people's subconscious, controlling thepeople's words and actions.
