Drama "Thunder Storm", written by Cao Yu in 1933, is one of the modernclassical Chinese dramas. There have been many studies and discussions on"Thunder Storm", among which character Fan Yi is one of the focuses.This thesis attempts to interpret the uniqueness of Fan Yi's character based onthe following issues: the literature review, the expression and origin of theuniqueness of Fan Yi's character, and the aesthetic significance of her uniquecharacter.Fan Yi's character is portrayed under three contexts: the fierce characterconfrontations of "Thunder Storm", female persona in Chinese Literature andfemale persona in European one. With the combination of the above contexts FanYi's character, rich but partial, is unique. Fan Yi is a unique oriental femalecharacter with western thought.Fan Yi is the flower of sin and the "devil". She is beautiful in that herexperience is a Chinese woman's tragedy. That is the typical significance of thunderstorm, which is the difference of Fan Yi's unique character.Fan Yi is beautiful in her aesthetic significance. Fan Yi reflects the beauty ofhumanity, the brilliance of times, the glorification of nation and the meditation ofexisting. All those charms of Fan Yi make her unique and matchless in femalepersonas of literature.
