Phonological loop which stores and rehearses speech-based information, is an important component in Working Memory Model. Used mixed design and Chinese reading materials to study the effects of phonological loop of the working memory in Chinese reading comprehension. This study had two experiments. The first experiment used articulatory suppression paradigm, error disruption paradigm and word frequence to invesigate the roles of articulatory control process in Chinese reading comprehension;the second experiment used irrelevant speech paradigm, error disruption paradigm and word frequence to examine the roles of articulatory store in reading comprehension. The results showed: (1) The articulatory control process and articulatory store played an important role in Chinese reading. Reading score was lower in articulatory suppression condition and reading time was longer in irrevelant speech conditon. (2)Articulatory suppression effected the reading scores of homophone. The reading scores of homophone was lower under articulatory suppression condition. (3)Under natural reading condition, there were significant differences between homophone and non-homophone. The homophone reading scores were lower than non-homophone. (4) Articulatory suppression had a role in high frequence words, in which the reading scores was lower.
