Phonological Loop is one of components in Working Memory Model. Because working memory plays an important role in reading comprehension, phonological loop, which processes phonological information, is likely to have close relation with reading comprehension. However, there are not so many direct researches examining this issue until now. We studied this topic in Chinese reading. Our study used articulatory suppression paradigm and error disruption paradigm to examine the difference of reading between under natural reading condition and under articulatory suppression condition, taking advantage of eye movement technique. The results showed: (1) the reading speed under articulatory suppression condition was higher than natural condition; (2) There both were homophone effects under two reading conditions, that is, first fixation and total fixation of homophone were shorter than those of non-homophone; (3) Phonology played an role early in Chinese reading and subjects corrected homophone errors more easily than non-homophone ones.
