Robert Frost is one of the most distinguished poets in America, who won Pulitz Prize four times in his life time. He occupies an important position not only in American literature, but also in world literature. Most of his poems are about New England country life, expatiating the inharmonious relationship between man and nature, and between man and man. Conflict, like a thread, runs through his poems, playing an important role, and revealing the poet's true philosophy on man and life. The thesis is divided into three chapters: Chapter One deals with conflict between man and nature. Nature doesn't show any concern to man, and man also destroys nature severely. Chapter Two illustrates conflict between dream and reality. Golden dreams are damaged by cruel reality. People wish to live in a world full of love, but in reality they dwell in a loveless world. Chapter Three explores conflict between man and man. The relationship between man and man is inharmonious because they have different ideas about life and the world. In summary, after a further and detailed study of conflict—eternal theme of Robert Frost's poetry, we can get a better understanding of the poet, and his poetry.
