In the literary theories raised by Wang Guowei, the theory of "artistic conception" is an ontological viewpoint about literature, which mainly indicates the essential meaning and absolute value of literature. Comparatively, the theory of "eye" is a practical and creative methodology about literature, which focuses on the premise foundation, capability and ideal state when a litterateur engaged with literary creation. We can say that the theory of "eye" is just developed from the basic of the theory of "artistic conception". It is established in the aesthetic stand that is set up by the latter, and presents a series of opinions and requirements to the literary creation: litterateurs should take eyes as their aesthetic organ, and then they will possess the capability of insight, and emit the aesthetic behavior of insight. This is the precondition and foundation of aesthetic intuition. That's to say, litterateurs depend on their own eyes to take up aesthetic behavior and gain aesthetic intuition. Moreover, insight, as a capability, is different on individual in the level. Litterateurs should possess the capability of insight into the universe and life that not only can enter in but also can move out, and not only can write out but also can look into. In addition, after gaining the real feeling and aesthetic intuition of the universe and life, litterateurs also should express these in their literary works with intuitional manner and method to eliminate the intellectual gulf and form the artistic conception of the works. So if we define the artistic conception as the truth in the aesthetic meaning, the series of opinions and requirements raised by Wang Guowei in his theory of "eye" are just pursuing the aesthetic truth.
