Sign language is the mother tongue of deaf people, and the "first language" they acquire naturally. To learn spoken language and written language.they need special training.So,the mainstreaming language is their second language. Sign language accords with the intellection habit and cognitive mode of deaf people and they have natural advantages to grasp it.The author explains the components, essence and status of Chinese Sign Language from the angle of linguistics. She also points out that Chinese Sign Language is a self-governed language,and the relation between it and Chinese is use for reference.
