The dobby textiles were used widely. It is a kind of textiles whosevarieties can be changed rapidly. It has advantages of low technical cost andhigh produce efficiency. So the dobby textiles adapt to the volatile marketvery much. But the design for dobby textiles is limited by the number of shaftsin dobby loom. Recent years, with the developing and applying of electronicdobby loom and textiles CAD system, the research of dobby textiles increasegradually. This study discussed how to make innovative dobby textiles designby using the advantages of textile CAD. The main aims of this thesis are: (1)designing the innovative dobby textiles by combining transposition theorywith textile art design;(2) based on the transposition method, realizing thetexture pattern with big repeat for dobby fabric by combining the weavingtechnique and the weave pattern.The factors in design of the dobby textiles were discussed in this study,and the transposition theory in textile design was analyzed. Then the authorconcluded the methods of designing dobby textiles with large repeat. Threesteps of weaving test were also mentioned, including hand loom, auto sampleloom controlled by computer, and the mass production machine.Combining design practice with the basis theory, a whole new visualimpression under the help of contemporary science and technology of dobbytextiles was obtained. This research work is a pleasuring exploration in thefield of fabric design. Discussion and examples of the design methods andeffects give a new direction in textile design and production. Moreover, theycan perfect our recent teaching ways of textile design specialty in a certainextent.
