This thesis aims to analyze and evaluate four interaction types (Learner-Content, Learner-Learner, Learner-Instructor and Learner-Interface) in computer-assisted language learning environment. The research method consists of both a 'judgmental' evaluation by drawing on theories and approaches from Second Language Acquisition and Human-Computer Interaction, and the data collection through questionnaires and classroom observation. The main findings of the thesis include: 1) University students in China are interested in and ready to learn through CALL;2) The computer performs better than the traditional textbook in terms of interaction with the target language;3) Students can learn more in CALL environment with the instruction and supervision of teachers;4) Students favor the traditional classroom teaching mode rather than the CALL self-access mode in language tasks requiring high communicative competence;5) New College English Online Courseware is well designed and favored by the great majority of the students, both pedagogically and technologically. Finally, suggestions are made for further improvement in New College English Online Courseware.
