This thesis inquires into the origin of Shen Ts'ung-wen's text beauty. It doesn't seek his artistic origin from the single angle of literature and art, but from his birthplace and blood relationship to explore his deep creative origin with music. The peculiar primitive customs in Shen Ts'ung-wen's hometown, which are fond of singing and dancing, inevitably make music become a breeding ground for him. Requiring deeply into Shen Ts'ung-wen's creative route, this thesis draws a route from folk song to music, and then cosmic music in his texts and narration of different times. This thesis also places Shen Ts'ung -wen's artistic philosophical thinking into broad context of modern plural civilization in the 20th century so as to give prominence to his peculiar creative style and then discover his peculiarity of his thought. Shen Ts'ung-wen's cosmic idea differentiates himself from the contemporary writers, and with the lapse of time and people's further understanding of cosmos, Shen Ts'ung-wen's works will be more brilliant. The whole thesis consists of three parts. The first part "origin", expresses Shen Ts'ung-wen's irrevocable commitment with music and analyzes that he collated and compiled folk songs at the initial time of his creation and makes an exposition on how he spiced these folk songs into the texts and they become the splendid element of the works. The second part "merging", with the examples of the Sightseeing in the Moonlight, the Border Town, and Fengzi gives a clear explanation to how Shen Ts'ung-wen made use of the appreciation of music of his own into creation and between the same characters and in the same story create magical works. The last part "renascence" lays stress on Shen Ts'ung-wen's renascence from music. The philosophers' idea about cosmos, ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign, exert a tremendous influence on Shen Ts'ung-wen. He listened to cosmic music, thought deeply about life and was lost in abstract thinking, thus gained calmness from the harmony of life at last.
