There is prejudice in some peoples mind to regard Jin Yong's swordsman fiction secular and not interesting. However Jin Yong's fictions suit both refined and popular tastes, and manifest a perfect combination of the modern ideas and the traditional cultures. These fictions also show great inner information within a worldly form. His fictions are not only good at enter taining the readers but also probe into the human nature and display many difficult positions of existing. This thesis mainly studies how Jin Yong's fictions contribute to the swordsman fictions and why they can appeal to all.This dissertation is consisted of three chapters. Chapter one focuses on traditional Chinese culture. This chapter is further divided into three parts: the great charms of traditional cultures, the enlightenment of the Buddhism, and the moral problems with Chinese character. On the charms of traditional culture the author tries to understand and explain Chinese traditional culture, social customs, and the social snobbery. Jin Yong's awakening and inspection of the sufferings. One the enlightenment of Buddhism, JinYong's explanation of the sufferings in the Buddhism was greatly influenced by his past experiences which is probed in this part. The last part in this Chapter, the author examines Chinese sees and ethics.The second Chapter is about the critical style of Jin Yong's fictions, which is consisted of three parts: the heroic images,aniheroic images and the origins of his critical style. To show the fighing against the trifle things in ordinary lofe, the author takes those figures with specific characters as example his discussion of the heroic and antiheroic images. The hero can live a peaceful life, at the same time he is alive and energetic. So he shows the affection and worries of a person as well as the heroic problems of him. The last part is about the pessimistic spirit if Chinest culture and the comparison between Lu Xun's pessimistiv ideas and Jin Yong's suffering ones.The third Chapter discusses the double texts of Jin Yong. The author comments on the bad taste full of common customs and violence as well as the concerns on the human life, thus anayze the aesthetic effects whicb are shown the style the framework, the characters of figures and their values.This dissertation takes Jin Yong and his fictions as the studyt subject. Based on the former reseaches, combing the environment, inner mind and writing styles of Jin Yong's words etc., the author tries to discover the great inside information of Jin Yong and his considering to the meaning of existing of human beings. How this character is formed is also observed and a deep meaning on the social culture is to be discovered.
