Central Asia is the continental centre of the Asia- Europe. In the ancient times, it is the centre of the Chinese civilization, Chaldaic civilization, Indian civilization and Aegean civilization. It is the crossroad of transmitting civilization and religion, the backbone of the Silk Road. It made great contributions to the cultural exchange and commercial trade between eastern and western countries. During the neoteric times, capitalistic countries played "Great Game" in this place. When history entered the modern times, the entire world has changed, but the only unchanged thing was the contention among the developed countries in this area. Nowadays the great powers do their best to get the benefit from this area to satisfy their interests. At the same time, India as a developing country does not want to play a minor role, so it develops energetic relations with Central Asia countries. The thesis roundly and systematically analyses Indian policy on Central Asia during the post-cold war period. This thesis divides into five chapters, of which the second, third and fourth chapter are the most important.Chapter one briefly introduces the history between India and Central Asia.Chapter two analyzes the Indian strategic interests in Central Asia on the aspects of traditional security, non- traditional security and economy during the post-cold war period.Chapter three discusses the advantages of developing relations between India and Central Asia.Chapter four discusses the disadvantages of developing relations between India and Central Asia.Chapter five concludes the prospect of Indian policy on Central Asia.
