Zheng Min has been active for half a century in the circle of poets, and from her we can see clearly the traces of both the world-wide trend of thoughts in poetry and the ideology of literature and art.In the 1940s,she entered the poetic arena as one of the members of China's New Poetic School .Zheng Min began her poetry creation under the influence of the western modernism . The Austrian poet ,Rilke, determined the main ideological and sentimental appeal of her lifelong poetic creation, no matter in poetic genres and skills or the consciousness of life demonstrated in he poems. In the early period ,her poetry was permeated by smacks of Rilke-styled meditation ,which helps develop a school of her own among the contemporaries.China's poetic circles in the 1980s was fairly lively. After some contacts with postmodern poetry and its theories, the keen-witted Zheng Min embarked on a new travel in the field of poetry . She explored actively the poetic languages and forms ,and also pursued new significance of poetry , all of which flashes the distinguished quality of being a sagacious poet ,that is ,her attaching importance to contemplation .However, on acceptation of postmodern poetry and its theories, Zheng Min displayed certain prefigurement, which is in the light of her poetry ideality and interest to choose and absorb. She didn't admit the essential value which Postmoernism presents, and she just took it as a strategy. In the 1990s,Zheng Min began to show her brilliant talents in poetry criticism .Inspired by the western literary and art ideology ,she managed to make a relatively comprehensive deliberation of poetry through mulling over the development process of China's new poetry and summing up poetry creation .As poetry itself ,Zhen Min inquired into its structure ,language and essence . Also, she explained the close relationship between poetry and philosophy ,education, culture, especially the traditional culture, and set up the distance between poetry and politics. She regarded poetry, philosophy ,culture and education as an integrity , in which each part interacts . .In the post-colonial context, she was questioned and challenged and classified into the camp of new-conservatism for her highly propagating the idea of showing reverence to tradition. Under the shadow of cultural colonialism ,she attempted to win over existing room for our national poetry and culture by Derrida's Difference Theory. Her predicament was that her poetic creation and criticism kept the alienated state with the Postmodernism theory. But being a strategy ,her inspirational thoughts shows active significance.
