Research On The Time Of Storing And Binding Of Features Of Picture In Visual Working Memory

The sixty-four-dollar question of the research of object visual working memory iswhether it stores integrated objects or not.Researches before have come to an agreement.Butwhen the features are stored and when they are bind?There is still no research found aboutit.By using the single – probe change detection paradigm and a divided – attentionprocedure,two experiments were conducted in the present study to investigate the featuredimension and stimulate present time on the representation of objects in visual workingmemory.Subjects were aware of the feature dimension in experiment one,and unaware of itin experiment two.The results showed:(1) Color and shape are stored independently in object visual working memory.(2) There are two phases in the representation of objects in visual workingmemory.Firstly, the features of objects are stored independently,then they are bindif the task needed.(3) In contrast to shape,color is stored earlier and better.The result suggests colorsubsystem priority.
