At the early stage of the Republic of Roma, women had no right to possess property whichwas completely controlled by their husband. This situation was changed since the second Punic warin 200 AD as it brought a great transformation to Roma. Roman women demanded to manage herproperty by themselves, so they tried every way they can to be released from her guardian. In thisway, they became very rich. With the number of rich women keeping rising, they form a specialsocial group. They were of different profession: landholder, trader, mill-owner and so on.They lived a luxurious life and sometimes they donated a lot of money to society or toindividuals. This community was very rich in which some women were millionaires oreven richer than men.Their wealth increased with the increase of the social wealth. There werecomplex social causes lying behind. This article will delve into these reasons and address at theinfluence that this women community have brought. Our new perspective to the status of Romanwomen and their emancipation will deepen our understanding of this issue.The thesis is composed of preface, text, conclusion and appendix.Part one introduces the phenomenon of the rich roman woman community.Part two analyzes how the rich roman woman community coming into being.Part three reveals the rich roman woman community's influence to the society.
