Strategic Thinking On Dealing With Cultural Conflicts Against The Background Of Globalization In Our Country

At the beginning of the new century, attention to globalization analysis andcultural normal forms is the hot point of attention of international political theorycircles. Cultural is a traditional variable in international relationship. However, thediscussion of the academic filed focuses on the orientation of culture itself against thebackground of globalization. Under the pressure of globalization, various kinds ofcultures are in the process of collision, communication and merging.With the expansion of capitalist powers, western culture flooded into China. It isthe first time that Chinese and western culture confronted on a large scale,demonstrating in form of violent conflicts and concussion. Under this circumstance,the western side is the challenger and the Chinese side is the challengee;the formerpressed step by step while the latter set up defense step by step. Since modern times,Chinese culture and western culture which were like two divergent rivers have been inconflux. However, this convergence between Chinese and western culture does notmean that a new culture is created on basis of merging of both cultures. Both culturesremain their prominent features, communicating with each other while retaining theirrespective characteristic.We need to remind ourselves of what should we learn from and refuse in thecommunication between Chinese culture and western culture or other cultures. Weshould follow others' suit. Western capitalist countries violently encroached,assimilated and controlled cultural sovereignty of non-western developing countries,seriously threatening cultural sovereignty and development of developing countries.In developing countries, especially in China, we must learn to respect cultures ofother nations and make rational cultural choice and innovation in the process ofglobalization without total westernization of our culture.There are three parts in this paper.Part â…  : Merging and conflicts of global cultures against the background ofglobalization .Part â…¡ : Challenges that Chinese culture confronts against the background ofglobalization.Part â…¢: How to improve Chinese culture's ability to confront these challenges.
