Oil is the blood of modern industry. Since World War II, oil has substituted forcoal and has became the main energy . Middle East area is rich of oil. So the Arabsattach importance to oil more and more ,considering the national interest of Arabs.The breaking out of the third Middle East War in 1967makes Arab countries to thinkover oil as a weapon.Arabs embargo oil shipping to United States and Western Europe ,and oil crisis isresult in. By studying the policy of United States to this oil crisis ,we can know theinternational relation of this period ,and we can also gain useful experience.The thesis includes three parts: the preface ,the text and the conclusion.Preface :Introduce the research object ,content and production of this researcharea.Main part: Expounding the background ,the content and estimation of theAmerican policy for Middle East oil crisis in 1967.1. Six Day War and the course of the oil embargo in two aspects:(1)crisisbrews,Arab oil producers take up oil weapon;(2)the development ,relaxationand end of the oil embargo.2. American policy to the oil embargo in two aspects:(1)the estimation of theUnited States before the embargo of Arabs;(2)the rapid reaction of the UnitedStates since the embargo begins.3. The influence of the oil embargo and the estimation of Americanpolicy :(1)the influence of the oil embargo;(2)trait of Americanpolicy;(3)analysis for ability of American emergency reaction.Conclusion: analyzing American policy to the oil crisis in 1967,point out that thesituation of oil supply affects American foreign policy. American policy in thisoil crisis incarnates consciousness of American contending for hegemony ,andthe unlikeness between America and its ally in this crisis also incarnates thatafter America achieved world supremacy since World War II , concomitant withthe redevelopment of its ally America could not command its ally as easy asbefore.This crisis also indicates the development of the internationalstructure.American policy to the oil crisis in 1967 provides other nations withemergency policy in oil crisis.Especially China has been the second oil consumerin the world,it is important to learn from it and set up tactic oil reserve.
