In the past 20 years, studies on Hu Shih in Chinese academia have been carried out in an all-round way and have formed one thematic discipline, even characteristics and trends of"An apparent study"have appeared in this discipline. However, studies on Hu Shih‵s logic still go on the level of refining and summarizing his separate views from his two works the Development of the Logical Method in Ancient China and An Outline of the History of Chinese Philosophy. This is not suitable to Hu Shih‵s due academic status in Chinese logic research .In fact, in the opinion of Hu Shih, logic is a method, and the concern about"method"ran through in all respects of his academic research and sustained his academic career. His Dr. academic dissertation the Development of the Logical Method in Ancient China " was an attempt of transplanting western philosophy of method (logic method) in Chinese traditional culture; His advocating of " experimental logic " was to propagate western approach directly; At middle age and from then on, what he insisted and so called" scientific method " was an integration of textual criticism study by tradition and experimentalism by John Dewey at the level of methodology.This thesis tries to classify Hu Shih‵s logic relevant work and view into three parts. First, Hu Shih researched into the logical theory in pre-Qin period and constructed its history; Second, Hu Shih expounded the theory of "experimental logic" and advocated for it; Third, Hu Shih summarized his approach of "scientific method" in the activity of sorting...
