Bela Bartok(1881-1945)is a prominent Hungarian Composer, folklore musician and a pianoist, one of the most gifted musician in 20th century. He has dug out the primary composing origins form folk music and dexterously melted it into the western classical and modern technique.His works are distinguished with variety and personality, and endowed with significance in acknowledging piano music of 20th century. The thesis chooses his two piano tunes completed in different periods"Fourteen Piano Tunes"and"Six Dance Tunes"and analyzes them in aspects of technique and playing by employing the devices of bibliographical reference and theoretical anatomy together with the writer's practices, The thesis studies his creative features and styles in the fields of harmony, tune and rhythm in purpose of demonstrating his transition of creative techniques in different time as well as the closing contact with the folk music, discloses Bartok's beating skills in playing. He has"transformed"the piano into a sort of beating and rhythmic instrument, alienating the concept of regarding piano as a melodious tool and largely expanding its magics. At the end of the thesis, it summarizes the differences and commonalities of the two tunes, penetrates their different creative features oriented from the aesthetic consciousness of musical creation.The writer intends to display Bartok's exclusive creative considerations and musical style on one hand, and offers reference to the coming piano teaching, expands the vision of teaching and enrichs the materials to have the practicers learn more on the other hand.
