As a rare regional opera of Nan-yang, Wan-Bang Opera has typical characters. During its development, it developed a series of traditional ritual, including believes, tabu, ceremony and induction. These traditional ritual restricted its people from conduction, speech and mentality to support its existence and development. As a civilian opera, Wan-Bang has close contact with people's lives. The play comprises all kinds of folk-customs to attract peoples and its performance combines with people's lives. As they serving the audiences, they gain their own existence. This article intend to discuss the active function of Wan-Bang's traditional ritual and of the interrelation between Wan-Bang and folklore on its content and ritual.This article includes five parts:Part One: Conspectus. This part intends to concisely discuss Wan-Bang from the point of folklore, including Wan-Bang's traditional ritual and its folk-customs related plays and performance, to affirm their positive effect in it's development, which will help to detect the opera laws of development and to relieve our ethical opera.Part Two: Wan-Bang's characters and its spread Including its characters, origination, development, spread and its inflection on local people.Part Three: Wan-Bang's traditional ritual. Introducing its believes, tabu, ceremony and induction in its management and pedigree to affirm their historical function and to illuminate people to ponder about it at present.Part Four: The combination of Wan-Bang and folklore. This combination, that is, including many folk-customs people liked and utilizing folk-customs in its performance, make Wan-Bang serve the audience's folk lives as well as gain its existencePart Five: Epilogue. As a kind of folk culture, Wan-Bang not only help to enrich people's inner lives but also has great importance to national culture development. This article appeals to people for paying attention to Wan-Bang and suggesting an opera research from a new point.
