Time spirit is a congregate idea on the society,philosophy and scientific development of a historical time phase, namely the ideology of a historical time. It influences the science direction of some period of time. Time spirit can drive and hinder the development of science .Psychology as an intersectional science is affected by the time spirit apparently. Remarkably embodiment is the construction on the theory of mainstreams of psychology. Social comparison as a part of psychology also embodies its time spirit——social constructionism.Social constructionism came into being in the 1960s.Up to 1980s, it pull up full of vitality, rapidly flooded all sciences and was regarded as a new methodology. Social constructionism borrowed the method of relativism, separated the objectivity of scientific knowledge, explained the constructive character of the world, namely, the all understanded by us is the constructed by us. Social constructionism possesses different forms and factions, but has an essential view: the knowledge in some domain is the result of our social practices and social institution, or the outcome of interaction and arrangement of mutual social colony. It takes on characters as follows: firstly, constructive quality; secondly, the sociality of the construction; thirdly, interaction. As a metatheory, social constructionism gradually rises as a support at the back of many postmodern times. From the view of social constructionism, we can better analyze and understand the development of the research of social comparison.Human is a kind of social animal.
