In recent years a large number of tombs of the Han Dynasty were unearthed in China. With the excavation of these tombs, more and more bamboo slips of the Han Dynasty were discovered, some of them recorded funerary objects called Qiance, among which the funerary documents from Mawangdui tombs are very important. Because they not only keep a record of habit and custom of the Han Dynasty but also offer us abundant archeological data to study Chinese characters at that time. The Qiance from Mawangdui tombs of the Han Dynasty mentioned in this thesis includes the funerary documents of Tombs 1 and 3 at Mawangdui. The scripts from Tomb 1 were recorded in Tomb 1 of the Han Dynasty at Mawangdui, Changsha (published by Cultural Relics Publishing House, 1973) and the scripts from Tomb 3 were recorded in Tombs 2 and 3 of the Han Dynasty at Mawangdui, Changsha (published by Cultural Relics Publishing House, 2004).Based on the previous achievements on bamboo slips study, the thesis focuses on inscriptions on the bamboo slips and textual research of the terms. In brief, the author attempts to solve some issues on Chinese characters by means of sorting out the Qiance from Mawangdui tombs in a systematic and complete manner. The thesis is made up of three chapters. Chapter 1 is an introduction, describing Mawangdui tombs and their Qiance. Chapter 2 is the main body of this thesis, it intends to arrange the Qiance and make textual research of it. In Chapter 3, the author compares the Qiance of Tomb 1 with that of Tomb 3 in order to solve some issues concerning philology, morphology, semantics and so on.
