Interpretation And Treatment

By interpreting the work L'Histoire de la Folie a L'Age Classique of Michel Foucault, this paper concentrates on the two processes: the creation of the consciousness of madness and the forming of the forms of experiencing to the madness. Moreover, it compares two typical ways of interpreting the theory of Michel Foucault. It builds a more comprehensive understanding of this doctrine presented in the L'Histoire de la Folie a L'Age Classique, that is, reconsider the modernity. Firstly of all, by describing the creation of the consciousness of madness and the forming of the forms of experiencing to the madness, this paper presents the character of archeology of L'Histoire de la Folie a L'Age Classique, draws a picture of how the madness changes into the partner of prisoners and the illness from a presentation of knowledge and truth, how it changes into the construction of dirty and sill from the description of mystical and chaos, meanwhile it analyses the construction and content that Michel Foucault has mentioned. Based upon this, this paper has shown, after the changes is in the from of judicature and treatment, what the consciousness of madness has experienced in the process , which is from the opposites of tragic consciousness and critic consciousness to the creation of critic consciousness, the practical consciousness, the spoken(enonciative) consciousness and the analytical consciousness.Further, this paper examines two typical contemporary ways of interpreting or misunderstanding Michel Foucault. By criticizing the core of their argument, the author emphasizes the theme of this paper, that is, the reconsideration of modernity.
