Nowadays, we live in a world full of advertisements. We can see them everywhere. English advertisements become more and more close to our daily life. The translation of English advertisements are attracting scholars' attention since the latter part of the last century. lany translations theories are adopted to guide English advertisements translation.However in this thesis, the author applied two main concepts from discourse analysis to the translation practice; these two main concepts are: textural relation, to be more specific, theme/rheme, thematic progression; and semantic relation; that is to say: cohesion and coherence. This thesis provides a new perspective to the understanding of English advertisements and analyzes the advertisements in terms of texture.Discourse analysis became an independent discipline alongside several other subjects such as: Pragmatics, Semantics, Sociology, and etc.. Discourse analysis applied to translation activity began in the last century. However these activities were mostly related to literature texts. The application of discourse analysis to English advertisements are not concerned by many scholars. This thesis tries to use textural relation and semantic relation which are two main theories in discourse analysis to solve English advertisements problems with an aim to prove the feasibility of the theory.
