Li He, a poet of middle Tang Dynasty,discribed various of female images in many of his poems. Those gloomy and distressed women were a type of figure which Li He did his best to depict. About half of his female poems touched upon the gloomy and distressed image. This kind of figure was mainly in his GongYuan and GuiYuan poems and his prostitute poems. This article makes his GongYuan and GuiYuan poems written in the period of his being in Chang'an as an official and his prostitute poems as the study object, expounds the features of the gloomy and distressed female image in those two kinds of poems.The paper is devided into two parts. The first part begins with Li He's GongYuan and GuiYuan poems to summrize the features of the gloomy and distressed female image, then taking his three-year life experience in Chang'an as a basic point, reveals the deep reasons why the image features can form; the second part analyzes the three features of the prostitute image in Li He's prostitute poems,then through discussing the poet's job, indentity,social status and his special psychology, points out the exterior and interior factors reflecting the features of the prostitute figures in his prostitute poems.
