Han Dong, who got his reputation for his poetry in the 1980s, was famous as a novelist since the 1990s. The research on his poetry has been prominent, whereas little attention has been paid to his novel writing. Many researchers'comment of"newly-born generation"proves to be an overgeneralization. Some conduct their research on only one of his works and turn out incomprehensive results. Adopting historical and contemporary perspective, this paper conducts an all-around research on his works. Through the analysis of Han Dong's novel The Root, this paper shows that his"reflection"of Cultural Revolution adopts an individual perspective, instead of the macro and real historical view. By focusing on his novel You and Me, this paper demonstrates how he constructs the individual in describing the contemporary elements. This paper adopts the western intertextuality theory to investigate into Han's works and show its aesthetic value by intertextual analysis. Han is famous for calling for'split'action. This paper also makes an attempt to investigate his production of his challenge against writing status and power system.
