The Research Of Heidegger's Thought Of Technology

The development of technology, especially the rapid development and wide applyment of technology since twentieth century, has changed mankind's living appearance and standard effectively and pushed the development of society forward greatly. But it has brought out a series of negative effects that have been harmful to people's existence,such as environmental pollution and energy exhaustion. So how we solve these effects becomes a significant strategic issue on the development of today's science and technology.In the face of the predicament of contemporary technology, Heidegger's thinking of technology has great significance both in theory and reality. Connecting metaphysics with technology, he studied the technology and its essence with method of phenomenology and formed his unique thought of technology. Heidegger's thinking of technology was in key status in his later period's philosophy.Heidegger's inquiry of the essence of technology started with the critique to traditional idea of technology. He analyzed the original meaning of technology in ancient Greece in etymology, and looked upon the essence of technology as revealing. He differentiated modern technology from previous technology and pointed out its peculiar aspect of revealing. The essence of modern technology was named Gestell which was the basic frames to understand beings. People, nature and society were regarded as targets which were manipulated and conquered in Gestell. Gestell controls matter and imprisons human being, which makes the whole world fall into the crisis. It just is the long-lasting think-style of metaphysics which formed this situation. Facing the crisis of modern technology, we must learn to think and live poetically. Only in these ways will technology be real technology, man be genuine man and thing be real thing.
