This study aims to search for a more effective teaching model of English writing to college students by carrying out qualitative research and descriptive studies, in ways of experiments, questionnaire investigations and interviews, etc.This thesis provides a new English writing model with process-writing as the classroom organization assisted by product approach, with contrastive studies of English and Chinese as the focus of teaching materials, and Social Constructivism as the guiding thought to achieve the learner-centered whole-person education. The above thoughts were flexibly applied to theoretical studies, experiment process and data analyses, etc. The procedures included teacher's instruction, writing drills, composition commenting, tests, problems'solving, questionnaire investigation, interview, teaching-learning feedback, etc. As revealed in the present study, the new model provided has enhanced students'English writing ability in a relatively rapid pace, furthermore, has demonstrated great strength in helping students change their attitudes and beliefs positively towards English writing, in gaining confidence and increasing learning interest. In addition, this model could help students get a deep understanding of English and Chinese. The findings would provide insights to the teachers in a similar context in guiding them to adopt a more useful teaching model of English writing.
