Introduction: Saul Bellow passed away at the age of 89 years old on April 5, 2005. He had been writing for 40 years to create 9 novels, won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1976. With the honor of "Rich in the human nature understanding and the exquisite analysis to the contemporary culture", he was celebrated worldwide, and establishthe Bellow's style with the self- taunted comedy. Chapter1: Thought Origin (1) Blue comedist :Awed by the avalanche of criticism on the works of Saul Bellow in the US, he is topped a variety of titles. However, the Chinese readers actually are quite strange to him. (2) Objection to "Paleface " and "Redskin":Bellow's had uncreasingly examined the dehumanized, despiritualized and death-ridden state of the modem man and emphasized spirit-crisis. Bellow repeatedly represented the dichotomy and ununity of contemporary American culture in his mature novel. T Bellow's protagonists mostly follow this pattern of escape-pursua-redemption. They are between the opposite poles of body and soul, the physical and the spiritual, all are in the indefinite "dangling" condition, and also "an unfortunate ".
