The problem of people's career has been paid much attention since the ancient times. The people of the ancient times include the Qing dynasty paid much attention to their children's career and directed them to find jobs as the modern people. But each of the different historical periods had its own characteristic and was not invariable. All kinds of ideas, which influenced the people's behaviors of pursuing jobs during the Qing dynasty, were written in the historical materials such as genealogies, formal family precepts, collected works and common proverbs, folk rhymes and common sayings spread in the folk society. The paper mainly summarizes the ideas and behaviors of career of the common people and points out the reality factor restricted the behavior and pointed out the difference between the ideality and the reality by analyzing the consistency and deviation. At the same time, the paper put the idea and behavior of career on the background of the whole Chinese history and analyzes the reasons deeply of both with the knowledge of the sociology and psychology.In detail, the paper includes five parts:The 1st part is the introduction. The introduction mainly introduces the reason, the study history and the key problem of the paper.The 2nd part mainly presents the main ideas of career in the Qing dynasty and classifies them into 7 kinds, and summarizes their characters as order, sequence, practicality, regional and conservative character.The 3rd part enumerates the behaviors of the 4 social classes—the gentries, peasants, workers and businessmen and points out the diversity and fluid of their career.The 4th part analyzes the sorts of the factors that restricted the ideality of the people, and points out the coherence and the difference between the ideality and reality. And the author analyzes the reasons for the phenomena. The ideas only showed the ideality of the people and were not likely realized because of many factors in the reality.In the last part, the author analyzes the reasons for the changes of the ideas and behaviors of career in the Qing dynasty in detail, such as the historical reasons and the realistic factors.
