Vocabulary has been a very common problem for the vocational school students based on the writer's English teaching experience and research. A survey (Survey â…  . see Appendix â…  ) conducted in 3 vocational schools randomly chosen in Beijing shows that students are more likely to give up or show less interest in English learning because of unsuccessful vocabulary learning experiences. Hence how to help students with vocabulary learning is a problem to be solved by English teachers in vocational schools.The study aims to help students improve their word retention via 3R instruction. 3R is a vocabulary remembering method based on textual input, known as students Reading the new words aloud for preparation~2 , Reading the text aloud in groups for word attention~3 then Retelling the text by using the target words for word retrieval and generation~4. 3R instruction refers to the teaching practice that teachers help students with vocabulary learning in class based on 3R word remembering method.The study underwent a series of carefully designed steps.
