Academic adjustment will develop during middle school transition. In order to find out its structure and developmental characteristics, this dissertation uses self-designed questionnaire, explores the structure of academic adjustment using exploratory factor analysis, and explores the developmental characteristics by combining cross-sectional design and longitudinal design.The results show:1. The four dimensions, namely, learning attitude, learning method, curiosity and learning environment, cover in academic adjustment.2.The questionnaire is effective both in validity and reliability. It' s a reliable test to measure and analyze students' academic adjustment.3. Grade difference hits the significant level. Academic adjustment reduces with the increasing of the grade during the transition.4. Gender difference is not evident.5. As primary school students enter into middle school, their academic adjustment increases a little then reduces as well. Grade 8 is lower than Grade 7 significantly.6. Academic adjustment of Grade 7 students differs with years. Academic adjustment of the year 2006 is higher than that of the year 2004 and 2005.
