Discussion On Su Shi's Bantering Poems

Poems should be formal and they have been taking gentleness and honesty as their criteria and rule from ancient times. But there are a lot of bantering talks in Dongpo's poems. The poem banters so, which is quite worth paying attention and studying. After defining bantering poems'intention and extension and learning their source and course, this paper has analyzed emphatically the source of Su Shi's bantering poems. Personality and experiences are the inside and outside factors inflecting the creating of Su Shi's poems, besides the learning and accepting of the forefathers are the important factors influencing his work. The ideas of creating have influenced the poem's content, skill, style and so on. Su Shi's bantering poems can be divided into three kinds, on the whole: poems of ridiculing and teasing politics, poems of bantering colleague, relatives and friends, laughing at oneself- poem. This kind of poem has broken through the gentle and honest poem's tradition and opened up a new poetic conception and background, poetry rule, and poem style. It also opens new road for the creation of the poem and produces a lot of influence on the later age.
