The Influences Of Different Motivational-approaching Positive Emotions On Source Memory

The motivation dimension model of emotion points out that emotion with high intensity of motivation will narrow cognitive processing,while the low motivation intensity emotion will expand the cognitive processing.The aim of the study is to establish a link between emotional motivation and source memory from the positive perspective,to verify the applicability and scientific rationality of emotional motivation dimension model,and to provide a new perspective on the influence of emotional motivation dimension on source memory.This research is divided into three parts:The first part is a lexical evaluation experiment.120 words were selected by the subjects combined with previous studies and their own experiences,including 40 words with low motivation-approaching positive emotion,40 words with high motivation-approaching positive emotion,and 40 neutral vocabularies.29 psychology graduate students were selected to evaluate these words from three aspects: pleasurable degree,arousal degree and motivation approaching degree.The results showed that the three groups of words were in line with the experimental expectation and could be used in the follow-up experiment.The second part is the formal experiment-the influence of different motivational approaches to positive emotions on color source memory.Considering the color's influence,68 subjects were selected randomly to complete the red-blue evaluation questionnaire firstly.The purpose of the questionnaire was to lay a foundation for the formal experiment.The results showed that color red was significantly higher than blue in these three degree.And red color can motivate a higher level of positive emotion in the participants.In the formal experiment,60 words were taken to the experiment but find no significant difference in the results,and then 30 words were used to continue the study.It was found that the red source memory in the high motivation approaching group was significantly higher than that in the other two groups,while the blue source memory in the low motivation approaching group was significantly higher than that in the other two groups,and the red source memory score in these three groups was significantly higher than that blue source memory.The third part is about the influence of different motivational approaches to positive emotion on coding source memory.The experimental results show that the influence of different motivational approaching positive emotion on coding source memory is significant.The coding source memory of the high motivation approaching positive emotion group was significantly higher than that of the other two groups,and the imaginary coding memory grades were significantly higher than that of the reading code memory in these three groups.The above experimental studies show that different motivational approaches to positive emotions indeed have effects on source memory,and have difference in color source memory due to the emotional feature attached to color itself.The results of the study provide important evidence in the field of source memory for the theory of motivation dimension model of emotion,and extend the theory of emotional motivation dimension model.
