Most therapists agree that the purpose of psychotherapy is to integrate body, psyche, emotion and spirituality. Some therapists denied the effect of talking therapy, so therapists begin to pay more attention to body psychotherapy. Psychodramatic therapy is a kind of body psychotherapy containing performance. There is a proliferating literature on psychodramatic therapy in the west academic field. In Chinese psychology world, more and more scholars are becoming interested in psychodramatic therapy.This research tried to assume as wide a perspective as possible to seek as much information as possible, and analyzed them systematically and profoundly, in order to draw as clear a picture of psychodramatic therapy as possible, its past present and possible future. Major theoretical concepts and practical techniques & strategies were discussed with the purpose to push this field towards a stage of more creative exploration and practice.It has five interrelated parts. In the first part the background of the research was reviewed. Psychodramatic therapy is a kind of group therapy with drama structure. It is the application of psychodrama on therapeutic level. Jacob·Levy·Moreno is the founder of psychodramatic therapy. After his death, there is a proliferating literature on psychodramatic therapy in the west academic field. In Chinese psychology world, more and more scholars are becoming interested in psychodramatic therapy.In the second part the basic structure of psychodrama was introduced. Psychodrama is composed of stage, protagonist, director, auxiliary ego and audience. It has three interrelated phases, which are warm-up phase, enactment phase and sharing phase. Some psychodrama groups have the fourth stage that processing stage.In the third part major theoretical concepts were discussed. Moreno insisted that individuals should be responsible for themselves. He regarded spontaneity and creativity as a path of inner world and outside world, and thought that encounter was the basis of psychodrama philosophy.
