The topic of self-related information processing has been a central concept in cognitive psychology and self psychology throughout its history. In the past decades, social psychologists have witnessed an important progress in this area, which profited from the development in social cognitive psychology and psychometrics. The current study explores the mechanics of implicit self-related information processing, basing on the finding of related works, and tries to prove our hypothesis with two experiments. This study consists of two parts. An analysis of the relationships of self-concept, self-schema and implicit self-related information are showed in the first part, as well as some current researches in the related topics. This is also the logic framework for the whole study. The second part is to explore the mechanism of self-related information processing with two experiments. Study 1 tries to discuss the possible results after subjects are asked to distinguish information with the standard as "whether the given word is appropriate to describe you?" It turns out that subjects evaluate information with a more negative attitude after that. Study 2 is to explore the possible result of combining negative and positive information respectively with the "self. We get a similar result with study one.The results of the two studies demonstrate that both the processes of cognitive priming and effective priming are involved in self-related information processing. The following steps of information-processing are done under the current status, during which behaviors of human beings are also affected. Awareness plays an important role during the processes of information coding. However, the role of unawareness is much more important during the following processes. The results in our experiments...
