The second chapter analyses representative personalities in her novels, revealing females' puzzlement about gender identity of being one's wife, being one's mother, being one's daughter and being herself in the process of growing up and living.The epilogue summarizes and appraises Beauvoir's philosophy thoughts and consequently indicates the value of her novel.
